In the print version of this chapter, I use LGBT pride flags to illustrate the ways in which queer individuals have used technology to reshape identity. The number of these pride flags is daunting; however, I have gathered a sampling here that can be used in instructional contexts. Specifically, I reproduce here the flags I used with students on the cross-section forum and in the classroom at Rutgers University. While many more flags exist, many of these explicitly reflect sexual identities that may not be appropriate for the freshman writing classroom and so I have chosen not to present flags associated with various sexual fetishes. And yet even the small sampling here can be used to help students consider the range of pride flags that exist online.
