Hrm. I haven't gotten into full grading of Paper Four, but looking them over it seems like people haven't developed much from Paper Three. Perhaps showing some initiative and actually discussing an essay would help?

This class, in some ways, is falling apart. I don't have a specific problem with that, but realize that if we were actually functioning as a class, chances are your grade would be better. Those students hovering near the NP/C borderline have the most to lose here, so I would think they also have the most to gain from something like discussion.

I won't demand anything. Requirements clearly don't work by themselves, and I won't go draconian, since 1)I shouldn't have to and 2)it feels juvenile. This class is what you make of it.
