Enlightened design comes naturally when we do what needs to be done, and no more—when we listen to the needs of the page and add nothing else. That is the Way.

Simplify your design at all times. Yes, gifs can be animated. Yes, DHTML can add interactivity. Yes, MIDI's bring sound to a page. Yes, any color you can imagine can be used. And, yes, all these have their place.

Know that place, and respect it. Add nothing to a page that is not needed. Instead, take away all you can. Less really is more. Do not call attention to your design. That's impressive.
