learn relentlessly

Tao never stops.
Why? Because it isn't trying to accomplish anything.

The Masters hang back.
That's why they're ahead of the game.
They don't hang on to things.
That's how they manage to keep them.
They don't worry about what they can't control.
That's why they're always satisfied.

To Master the Way, you must both never stop and hang back at the same time.

Never stop. The web evolves daily—new standards, new capabilities, new limitations. Like the Tao, it goes on forever. You, too, must evolve. You must learn the web as it changes, constantly mastering new coding and design and software. Pay attention to developments as they occur.

Hang back. That's how you get ahead of the game. Even as you see the new horizons of the web, do not rush forward along the path, for adoption is a slow process. Just because some browsers support PNG's, keep in mind that all browsers do not. In the end, part of this process of constant learning is learning when it's time to implement the new, when it's being supported by a critical mass of users.

Don't hang on to things. Let go of the <FONT> tag. Let go of this or that favorite version of software. Let go of what's no longer needed, what's been deprecated, what's been superseded.

Learn what's new, learn when it's a good time to use it, learn what to let go of. Learn what you can control and what you cannot. This will serve you well on the path.
