A wheel has spokes, but it rotates
around a hollow center.
A pot is made out of clay or glass,
but you keep things in the empty space inside.
A house is made out of wood or
brick, but you live in the space between the walls.
We work with something, but we
use nothing.

There is no content without design; there is no design
without content. Design and content are yin and yang.
Vertical space balances horizontal space; text balances graphics;
whitespace balances used space.
Balance is beauty, yet to balance content and design is not to
have them in equal proportions. Balance on the web is not measured
in that way. Rather, balance is harmonydesign and content
working together.
Remember that any webpage is, ultimately, about content. Design
that calls attention to itself disrupts harmony; content poorly
designed disrupts harmony. Design that supports content, that supplements
it, that, indeed, echoes it, results in beauty. Understated design
makes a statement in itself.
In all things, seek balance. To find balance is to achieve beauty.
